Follow Your Camper And Their Activities During The Summer Of 2007 At CampTimanous!
| Opening day was picture perfect. It was great to finally
have the campers here! Thursday evening, everyone met in the hall where
the 3 new counselors were introduced, activity heads spoke about their activities
and a few camp songs were sung. Then off for the first night in the
cabins. Luckily, Dave had told the new boys about the loons on the
lake and the sounds they can make as they put on quite a performance around
9:00 that night. Friday morning started our first full day at camp. All campers, old and new, spent the first few days going through orientation at woodshop, sailing, archery, tennis, and rilfery. In addition, all the boys took a short swim test to determine their instructional swim groups. During free times, the boys could return to any activity they had already gone through during orientation. In addition, there were lots of games on the field, handicrafts, and canoeing and boating. Friday afternoon, always a highlight of the week, we had our first "Friday Candy" where the boys each get 2 candy bars and one soda. At the end of lunch on Saturday, the twilight league teams were announced. Every boy in camp is on one of the slow pitch softball teams. To announce the team names, the "coaches" put on skits which are usually pretty funny. The names are listed below the coaches pictures -- ask your son what team he is on! The games are played during our free evenings. The boys all enjoyed the first Cabin Cookouts Saturday evening. Each cabin has their own cookout site. They boys help collect the wood so the counselors can make the fire and then they cook their dinner. We did have some cool days and nights those first few days. Saturday morning instructional swim was replaced with games on the field due to the chilly temperatures.. We enjoyed a fire in the barn during breakfast and counselors brought extra blankets to their cabins. The weather has since changed and with temperatures possibly reaching 95 today, those cold days are all but forgotten. I have have posted many pictures from the week including many of the field, although it may be difficult to pick out specific campers, I hope you can get some feel for the boys' fun and excitement. This week starts off with the orientations done and boys now able to sign up for the activity choice, three cabins are going on the camping trips, competitions with other camps have begun and we are off to a great start! Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions. |
