Last Sunday, the whole camp went to Wohelo for Hiiteni Sunday,  a joint celebration of all three (Timanous, Big and Little Wohelo) camps' founders.  Everything went as planned until about 15 minutes after the service ended -- then the skies darkened and it started to pour. Everyone made a mad rush to their cars and buses. We returned to camp for lunch and to dry out!  The afternoon was a regular Sunday afternoon but that evening, after council fire, we said good bye to many of the first half campers with the rest leaving Monday morning.  We were very sorry to see them go but excited to welcome the second half campers Monday afternoon.

The second half campers went through orientation Monday morning and by Monday afternoon, we were back to a regular schedule.  Monday morning, a group of 12 campers and 4 counselors left for  Baxter State Park to set up camp. Tuesday, they climbed Mount Katahdin - they had the perfect day and a great view when they reached the top.  It is a very difficult climb but everyone made it. There were a few sore muscles when they returned to camp.  Another group left Wednesday on a backpacking trip.  The 9 campers and 3 counselors were not so lucky as it rained from the moment they left camp until their return on Friday. They hiked a total of 20 miles, carrying all their supplies with them.  They were soaked but they said they still had a great time!  To see this week's trip pictures click here.

An exciting new activity was started Monday morning - Rocket Building.  8 teams of 2 campers have spent a lot of time and hard work building the rockets which, weather permitting, will be launched later this week. We will be sure to get pictures of that!

We participated in 2 sailing regattas this week, one at Wyonegonic and one at Wohelo.  There was a Six-a-Side Soccer Tournament at Agawam on Monday and Tuesday; a 10&under kickball game;  an archery and a riflery match; and a 15&under baseball game. 2 tennis matches were rained out.

The new Harry Potter book started arriving on Saturday and campers can be seen carrying the large book everywhere!

The first half of the week was beautiful, sunny and warm.  The second half brought is share of showers but the sun came back out Friday afternoon and stayed around all weekend.

Note about the end of camp: Although we are not looking forward to the end of camp, we find ourselves having to start making plans. The travel letter was sent at the end of last week so hopefully you have received it.  The more information you can provide us, the easier it is on this end.  We will label all trunks, duffels, etc. and it is very helpful if we get it right the first time. If we have not heard from you, we will assume you are taking the trunk.  Last minute changes make it very confusing.  Please make sure you let us know if you want the trunk shipped.

If you are planning on coming for the end of camp activities, it is very helpful if we have an idea of your travel plans.  Every year, there is a group of boys that wait outside the office for their parents, confused about their arrival time and  becoming more concerned as other campers' parents arrive.  If we know when to expect you, we can remind them of your plans and reassure them that you are coming.   You may return the travel form or email me at camptiman@aol.com.  Thank you for your assistance.
