Saturday Morning and Barn Announcements, July 24

There are a lot of announcements made at the end of meals in the Barn.  Most are routine – explaining the days activities, returning lost and found, reading of the package list and the morning announcements wouldn’t be complete with out Sandy’s sports announcements. People cheer when their favorite team does well  and as a camp, we cheer for the Pirates who have historically been the underdog.  Other announcements can just be for fun. This morning was crazier then most when it was announced that this afternoon we would be playing Granddaddy Gorilla – see what happens when Sandy says “Stop monkeying around”.

Granddaddy Gorilla is a huge game of hide and seek where the counselors are the Gorillas and hide anywhere at camp (under or on top of buildings, in trees, etc) while the campers look for them. Counselors are worth different points and the upper bunkline cabin and lower bunkline cabin with the most points, win the game. There are 20 minutes left in the game – we’ll see how many counselors aren’t found.
